LOS ANGELES, CA, May 6, 2013 – Open Road Films announced today that it has entered into agreement with XLrator Media to market and sell XLrator Media titles to pay television and free television outlets.  The deal was announced today by Tom Ortenberg, CEO of Open Road Films and Barry Gordon, CEO of XLrator Media.

Founded in 2010, XLrator Media is a multi-platform releasing company focused on acquiring projects, including feature films, specials and libraries, and producing programming in genres and categories that are under-served by the major studios and most independents.  Among the many top independent genre films XLrator Media has released are IRONCLAD, JOHN CARPENTER’S THE WARD, BUNRAKU, 96 MINUTES, ASSASSIN’S BULLET, WE THE PARTY, ALLEGIANCE, THALE, and the just released STORM SURFERS 3D.

Under the terms of the agreement, Open Road Films will market and sell XLrator Media titles to pay television outlets, free television outlets, and select S-VOD carriers. Open Road Films and XLrator Media have already completed sales to numerous outlets and are jointly seeking select, strategic co-acquisitions the companies can also partner on for these channels where this unique co-releasing strategy will mutually benefit a film or project.

“XLrator has cultivated a powerful niche in the content world that has strong appeal in the pay television and free television arena,” stated Ortenberg. “We are pleased to be able to deliver these new titles to our existing partners in the television universe.”

“Open Road personifies the best qualities of a studio releasing brand and a major distribution franchise. The XLrator-Open Road partnership will provide access to a wide-lane for our top-quality, elevated genre films and programs to larger sales channels and new audiences,” said Gordon.

The deal was negotiated on behalf of Open Road Films by Ortenberg and Elliott Kleinberg, General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Operations and Business Affairs. Gordon and General Counsel Michel Urich negotiated on behalf of XLrator Media.
