Stirring portrait of an octogenarian transgender activist to be released in theaters November 3 and on VOD November 7

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 6, 2017) – XLrator Media has acquired global distribution rights to the award-winning feature documentary UNCLE GLORIA: ONE HELLUVA RIDE and will release the film in U.S. theaters on November 3 and on VOD, Amazon and iTunes November 7.

UNCLE GLORIA: ONE HELLUVA RIDE recounts the astonishing true story of Butch, the macho owner of a South Florida auto-wrecking company, who in a desperate search of a way to hide from the law, transforms himself into a woman named Gloria. But what starts out as a trick to beat the system ends up changing Butch’s life forever. Now in her 80s, Gloria’s stranger-than-fiction life has been filled with risky surgeries, sex work, family dysfunction, activism and a gender-bending love story. Full of humor, warmth and sass, UNCLE GLORIA is a rollicking ride that must be seen to be believed.

Two-time Emmy-winning and former PBS documentary producer Robyn Symon directed, produced and edited UNCLE GLORIA. Her previous films include “Transformation: The Life & Legacy of Werner Erhard” and “Behind the Blue Veil.”

The film has screened internationally at more than 20 film festivals and received the Best Documentary Award at the Miami OUTshine Film Festival and Atlanta Docufest.  It was also selected for the prestigious Film Independent Documentary Lab.
