XLRATOR MEDIA LAUNCHES XLRATOR TV DIVISION WITH THREE NEW SERIES IN DEVELOPMENT FOR 2018

LOS ANGELES (October 23, 2017) – Following the October 20th premiere of its first TV series SUPERSTITION on SYFY (Netflix worldwide), XLrator Media has announced the launch of its new television division XLrator TV. The company will work directly with networks, co-production and distribution partners to package, develop and produce scripted, reality and other non-fiction programming for the global television and SVOD marketplace.

To launch the division, the company is expanding its relationship with two of its most creative co-production partners, Rugged Entertainment and Bleiberg Entertainment. The company has worked with Rugged Entertainment on several critically-acclaimed documentary features including The Legend of 420, Who the F**k Is That Guy? and Queen Mimi. Over the years, Bleiberg Entertainment and XLrator Media have collaborated together on many elevated genre films including the recent Savage Dog, Close Range and the cult hit The Curse of Sleeping Beauty, which the companies are developing into a thrilling new scripted series.

”On the heels of our first global genre series SUPERSTITION, we are excited to embark on this new chapter at the company with the creation of this new premium TV content division,” said XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon.

Among the projects XLrator TV is currently developing, the first two with Rugged Entertainment and the third with Bleiberg Entertainment, are:

STRAINS

A co-production of XLrator TV and Rugged Entertainment

From the creators of the 2017 critically-acclaimed documentary The Legend of 420, the new docuseries “Strains” will combine history, travel, science and lifestyle segments to look at the evolution of marijuana cultivation and use from Ancient Egypt to the Mayan Indians to today. It will explore what strains of marijuana became extinct and which ones have thrived for the centuries, and will travel the world to remote and sometimes covert locations where various strains have originated. It will look at what strains are prominent today for both medicial and recreational use and interview celebrities, connoisseurs and influential figures in the booming cannabis industry to see what strains they enjoy, how they use them and why.

SIGN OF THE TIMES (Mini-series)

A co-production of XLrator TV and Rugged Entertainment

Dateline 1967, Sunset Strip, Los Angeles: Robert Landau was right there, a kid destined to be a professional photographer, shooting his first pictures. Decades later, he rediscovered his Kodachromes, the only extensive collection of photographs that document those iconic billboards. Based on Landau’s best-selling coffee-table book “Rock ‘n’ Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip,” the series interviews the musicians, record producers, and designers who shaped those billboards, bringing fresh insight to the culture of the day and its lasting impact on the world.

THE CURSE OF SLEEPING BEAUTY

A co-production of XLrator TV and Bleiberg Entertainment

Based on the 2016 cult hit fantasy-thriller The Curse of Sleeping Beauty and a spin-off comic book series by renowned illustrator Everette Hartsoe (Razor), the new TV series will be created and executive produced by Pearry Teo, Ehud Bleiberg and Barry Gordon. The series is an entirely new, dark modern-day interpretation of the Brothers Grimm classic and will follow Thomas Kaiser, a young man who inherits an ancestral mansion that has been in his family for generations -- only to learn that he has also inherited an ancient curse stemming back to the Crusades. Forced into his new role as "protector" -- the guardian appointed to keep the evil demons in the house at bay -- Thomas must unravel the mystery of the house, while struggling to awaken the beautiful Briar Rose, held captive in a terrifying netherworld.
